There's nothing quite like a good old fashioned beer served at a country pub. There are a number of taverns in Mathoura. The middle pub, the top pub and a few dotted around the side streets.
The Pastoral Hotel in 1908 was weather board and the licencee was Gus Pollard. It was rebuilt in 1914-15 in bricks made locally. In 1920 a disastrous fire in Livingstone Street burned several shops and houses and damaged the Pastoral Hotel. It was known as the middle pub until the Charleston's Hotel (The Top Pub) burnt down in the mid 1980's. It still provides great country hospitality, cold beer and a good yarn.
A nice snug little Pub, The Pastoral is great for a truly authentic local experience.
